Frequently Asked Questions

Where did you go?
Prince Albert Music Centre closed it's doors on March 31, 2019.  We are still doing some clearance and customer service activity on line.

Where are you located?
We are located at 4-1499 10th Ave East, Prince Albert, S6V 7S6. We are in the Cornerstone area, across from SIAST and right behind RONA.

Are you the same PA Music that was at 1st Ave and 12th Street W?
No. We have the same name, but new ownership, and new business number. We carry many of the same brands as the old store, but are forging a new relationship with the music community in Prince Albert.

How can I contact you?
There's lot of ways! Give us a call at (306) 922-9100, email us at, leave us a message on the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page, or message us on our Facebook account. We'll respond as soon as we can.

Why should I buy from you?
As an authorized dealer, that means that your new instrument comes with the manufacturers warranty. You will also receive the support of our experienced technicians and musicians. We like to keep our customers happy!

How old do you have to be to start music lessons?
There is no set age limit for music lessons. It depends on the person and the instrument. Typically children can start music lessons in the 5-9 year old range. Piano and guitar are good for younger beginners.

Students wanting to learn a wind instrument like the trumpet, trombone, or saxophone generally start after the age of 10 due to the physical requirements.

Our teachers and staff will be happy to talk about your child's situation.

Is there an age limit for lessons?
Not at all! We welcome students of all ages. It's never too late to start on a musical adventure!

When can I start my music lessons?
We teach music lessons all year round, so you can start your lessons whenever you want.

What is the best instrument to start on?
Although some instruments may be age sensitive due to their physical size, for the most part, the best instrument is the one the student is most interested in. If they want to play and practice their instrument on a daily basis, it is much more likely that there will be positive results.

How long does it take to learn an instrument?
New students who practice regularly will see results quickly. But it is important for everyone involved to look at it as one would look at learning a new language: a long term process. As the student's skill level improves incrementally, the results should be fun and rewarding, and will become a fulfilling life long pursuit.

What types of lessons do you offer?
We offer lessons on almost all instruments. Some popular ones at the moment are piano, bass, drums, guitar, and saxophone. If we don't have a teacher for a particular instrument at the moment, you'll be able to find online classes with our affiliate site, Artist Works. Find more information about them on their page.

Do I need to own an instrument to start music lessons?
In order to learn and progress with their skills, it is necessary to have regular practice. For that to happen, you will need reliable access to an instrument. Whether you own that or not doesn't matter. We do offer convenient and affordable student instrument rental plans.

Can I rent an instrument for my lessons?
Yes, you can rent an instrument from us on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Come see us in store to see what we have available and find out what works for you.

Can I do a trial lesson to start?
It's best to try a new instrument for at least a month. Our music lessons are generally prepaid on a monthly basis. Although we do not offer single trial lessons, students are able to discontinue lessons at any point with at least 48 hours notice and would be refunded for any prepaid lessons that were not taught.

What's better to learn on, the electric or the acoustic guitar?
Students generally learn better if they are interested in the subject. Go with the instrument that the student is more interested in.

For piano lessons, do I need a piano or can we use a keyboard?
There are a lot of options out there to choose from. The traditional acoustic piano is perfect to learn on, but it can be a bit expensive and need a lot of space. There are weighted action digital pianos that are the next best choice. Smaller portable keyboards provide touch sensitivity for some dynamic actions, but because their keyboard actions are unweighted, it will make it more difficult to develop the hand and finger strength that is required for good piano technique.

What if I can't afford music lessons for my child?
That's OK! There are plenty of different options for you! Creative Kids, Dream Brokers, and other programs help pay for lessons for children. Talk to our Music School Coordinator today to find out what you might qualify for.

Online Orders

Where do you ship?
We ship worldwide. However, destinations outside of Canada may be subject to additional shipping fees. If that must happen, we will contact you to get your approval before proceeding with the order. Or message us before placing it to get an estimate of the cost. PA Music is also not responsible for any duties or brokerage fees added by any customs agent.

How can I pay for my order?
Our payment platform is through PayPal. This means that you can pay with PayPal, credit, or Visa Debit cards.

Can I pick my order up in store?
Yes! Just choose the "Store Pickup" option when you go to check out, after you've chosen Saskatchewan as your province. We will email you once your order is ready. Please bring ID with you when you come to pick it up.

When will I receive my order?
In most cases, we will ship your order within 1 or 2 business days. We will email you once it's been shipped and will give you the tracking number so you can keep an eye on it in real time. We typically send via Expedited Parcel with Canada Post, which has a guaranteed delivery date of 5 business days.

If the item is backordered, though, and needs to be ordered from the manufacturer, then the shipping times will vary. We will contact you with the estimated time of arrival.

Is the website stock accurate?
For most products on our website, yes, the number you see there is the number we have in store.

For some larger items, such as brass instruments that are custom made, we don't have them in stock and need to order them from the manufacturer. This is true for most Peavey and Conn-Selmer items, as well as a few others. All these products have a note underneath the Add to Cart button mentioning this. Once we've received your order, we will email you with the estimated time of arrival that the manufacturer has given us.
